This year, thINK—an independent community of Canon Solutions America Production Print customers, solution vendors, and print industry experts—took a virtual approach to its annual conference. On the morning of September 2, 2020, registered attendees were given a link for the online event, where they could chat with other attendees, visit virtual sponsor booths, tune into product demonstrations, and attend nearly 50 breakout sessions. The entire event was recorded and is available to attendees through the end of the year at thinkforum.com.
Product Demonstrations
Attendees accessed Canon product demonstrations throughout the event, which were broadcast through the company’s new Customer Innovation Center in Boca Raton, FL. Demonstrations of the ProStream, ColorStream, iX-series, imagePRESS, varioPRINT TITAN, Colorado, and PRISMA were included.
Introduced in July, attendees could see the Canon ProStream 1800 continuous-feed inkjet printer, the newest model in the Canon ProStream 1000 series. The press features speeds of up to 436 feet per minute and utilizes native 1,200 dpi piezoelectric drop-on-demand printheads and proprietary polymer pigment inks with Canon ColorGrip conditioning fluid.
Also shown, the varioPRINT iX-series sheetfed inkjet press. Introduced in April, the iX-series is built on the success of the varioPRINT i-series platform and features the latest iQuariusiX technologies.
Another exciting demonstration includes the new imagePRESS C10010VP/C9010VP digital color presses, which launched the day prior to the thINK event.
Networking and Learning
Although face-to-face meetings were missing, a chat and meeting room system made it easy to connect with peers, sponsors, and executives. Further, learning sessions offered an interactive Q&A.
A big draw of the annual thINK conference is the break out sessions, which once again took front and center at the conference. The event boasted nearly 50 live sessions, which are all available to replay. Tracks included Business Growth—Capitalizing on the Opportunity, What’s New in Inkjet Technology, Workflow & Finishing & Mail, Now & Beyond the Pandemic, Sales & Marketing, Sales Training, and The Journey to Achieving Operational Excellence.
See You Next Year
While the event was deemed a success, as of now, the plan for 2021 is to meet once again in person in Boca Raton, FL next September. We look forward to sharing details for this as they emerge. dps
