Nobelus, a supplier of thermal laminates, unsupported films, and laminating equipment, has opened a facility in Elgin, IL, to increase office, warehouse, and production capacity in the wake of extraordinary growth. The new building was carefully selected due to its ability to meet the company’s unique operational needs as it welcomes new team members, customers, and industry partners at a faster
rate than ever before.
With square footage increasing by 63% compared to the previous facility, the Nobelus leadership team anticipates the company will have enough space to grow for years to come. “The new Nobelus Elgin production facility and offices are exciting on several fronts, but first and foremost, they stage us for our next chapter in robust growth,” says Nobelus CEO, Steve Truan. “In this facility upgrade, we have also been
intentional about creating more comfortable and efficient working conditions for all staff, supporting our relentless focus on employee culture and customer experience.”
Equally as important as the increase in operational space is the configuration of the building, which will enable warehousing and production to operate seamlessly.
“The ability to properly assign master rolls for slit production, prepare finished goods for warehousing and distribution, and designate staging of packaged materials for delivery will certainly help to make the entire process much more efficient,” explains Mike Cabrera, Senior Operations Manager at Nobelus. Cabrera played a vital role in organizing the move to the new facility, scheduling around equipment shipments and staff relocation to prevent lapses in production.
Employee wellness was another driving force in the decision to seek out a larger building, which is reflected in simple but effective features, such as an increase in the number of windows in the workspace. “The new facility has been carefully designed with the goal of optimizing workflow for increased efficiency while also ensuring our slitter operators are comfortable throughout the workday,” Cabrera adds.
The adoption of a more streamlined production floor layout is especially crucial as Nobelus has seen a boost in converting and production capacity after acquiring five new high-end slitting lines in the recent AccuFilm buyout. “Coupled with the acquisition of the AccuFilm slitting fleet, the new facility is a quantum leap forward for Nobelus,” continues Truan. “These changes will enable us to serve both our North American and global customers faster, more efficiently, and with greater accuracy.”
