Framing systems add a finishing touch to any graphic. They’re particularly helpful for short-term campaigns, where graphics need to be easily changed out by a less-experienced installer. Framing systems include anything from a snap-up or A-frame to roll-up banner stands and silicone edge graphic (SEG) frames. Below are some recently introduced products from various vendors.
Alpina Manufacturing, LLC
The Windspring FlipUp Stand is a double-sided 28×44-inch graphic frame holder with rounded corners for safety. The base can be filled with water or sand to keep your sign stand secure in high winds. Wheels are included for ease of movement, which makes for excellent street and sidewalk advertising. Easily change out graphics with FlipUp frame edges on both sides.
Budnick Converting
The non-aluminum SEGDesign system offers some advantages over aluminum. It is fast and easy to assemble in house with no special tools, lighter weight, less subject to shipping damage, and best of all, paintable with common spray paint. Aluminum can’t be easily painted and usually requires powder coating. That is why designers and sign shops may consider Budnick’s paintable frames. They come in silver, but the sky is the limit on creativity with SEGDesign frames.
Global Imaging
T3 is Global Imaging’s newest framing system and is relatively new to the U.S. It is developed to be a versatile and innovative solution. It’s a standout product that’s known for its patented, modular twist-lock assembly method that requires no tools and can be reused and reconfigured simply by adding profiles and components.
One of the most unique and adaptive advantages of T3 is the ability to create almost any angle of curved extrusions. T3 frames have a range of standard and custom curves for designers to choose from for their projects. The curves provide many aesthetic and functional benefits to displays as well as help to stand out from traditional exhibits and signs that consist mostly of rigid squares, straight lines, and rectangles.
The T3 system is designed to display almost any substrate as it works with Velcro, fabric keder SEGs, or rigid materials. It’s built to easily add doors, shelving, monitor mounts, and screens.
T3 is also environmentally focused as it is reusable, energy efficient, and made using a variety of eco-friendly materials.
REXframe is Global Imaging’s longest-standing frame system. It’s an anodized aluminum framing system that specializes in versatility and simplicity of installation. There are only two different types of connectors required for corners and only one tool needed for the entire system, so users can easily build wall graphics, freestanding frames, retail spaces, and trade shows. Add lighting to all framing options to make the graphic and image truly pop while still providing a truly elegant framing finished product.
Orbus Exhibit & Display Group
Orbus carries a line of light boxes that use SEGs. One of its newest additions to this line is Vector Frame Essential Banners, which can be used in temporary and permanent applications. Orbus offers frameworks that span two to 20 feet wide. At press time, it was also working on a new line of light box solutions to be introduced in 2023.
Tensioning Solutions
Tensioning Solutions’ most popular frame is the TS23, its lightest extruded aluminum bar. This versatile frame can be used on various surfaces, including interior and exterior walls and even box trucks and trailer sides. The TS23 can also be curved to follow the wall curvature of most structures. The TS79 is the PVC insert that is used with all three sizes of frames. Virtually any banner material—including fabric and vinyl up to 15 oz.—can be used in this and all of the company’s frames.
VersaFrame.com
VersaFrame.com makes a modular display system that includes aluminum channels that hold acrylic sandwich panes. The panes hold the materials to be displayed and those panes slide into the channels, which are installed onto customer walls. Note that the company can make frames of any size or layout and all of its displays are custom cut to order. The panes accommodate materials up to 1/8 inches thick, but most customers use them for paper certificates or photos printed on photo paper. It also offers frames for displaying jigsaw puzzles, which are near the maximum thickness the panes can accommodate.
WS Display
MODCO utilizes SEG graphics as well as poly-based panels attached with Velcro and of course, LED tiles are popular with this frame option. The CABO line of stick extrusion is a square post with SEG built into the extrusion profile. The advantage is that the size can be specific and not centered on a European size, which is set and can not be altered.
Framing Systems
These are just some of the available framing systems. There are options out there for any material as well as environment.
