Toner-based production presses provide endless capabilities for commercial print shops. With both color and monochrome options available to rival inkjet, it’s worth sharing more on the monochrome side of things. Used for books, manuals, handbooks, and much more, toner-based monochrome presses standout for their speeds as well as other benefits.
The March issue of DPS went into detail about color toner-based production printing. Here, we share some of the newest and notable monochrome presses available today.
The Canon U.S.A., Inc. varioPRINT 6000 Titan Series is a high-volume monochrome digital press with speeds of up to 320 inches per minute at 8.5×11 inches. The varioPRINT 6000 Titan stands out with a track record as the most productive and fastest monochrome cutsheet toner digital press available, according to the company. The varioPRINT 140 Series Quartz was launched in 2023 and provides a powerful solution for customers with mid-range B&W print volumes. A unique capability of the varioPRINT 6000 series TITAN and varioPRINT 140 series QUARTZ are options for either permanent or temporary speed license upgrades; a customer can start out with a slower speed model and then upgrade to a permanent print speed enhancement if their volumes grow, or a temporary speed enhancement for periods of peak production need, if volumes change unpredictably or in cycles.
The Fujifilm North America Corporation’s Revoria includes the E1 Series of monochrome toner-based production presses. Rising print costs increase the demand for an ultra-productive and cost-effective system like the Revoria Press E1 Series. Designed with performance in mind, the E1 Series offers printing speeds of up to 136 pages per minute (ppm) with resolutions up to 2,400×2,400 dpi for stunningly smooth monochrome reproductions. This system handles paper sizes from A6 up to 13×19.2 inches and is configurable to 100 different paper types. The Revoria E1 Series’ modular designs allow personal configurations for a unique inline procedure with countless feeding and finishing options.
Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc. offers multiple presses in the monochrome space. Built to perform in high-volume environments, the AccurioPress 6120 digital press reaches print and copy speeds up to 120 ppm, with a high-volume monthly duty cycle of 2.5 million impressions and real-time automated density and registration adjustments. Another example, the AccurioPress 6136 digital printing press, with a print speed of 136 ppm. It offers a duty cycle of over three million impressions.
Sharp offers the BP-1250M and BP-1360M Monochrome Press Series Production models, which will be launched later this year, will include real-time image quality adjustments and precise paper handling. Additionally, 2,400×2,400 dpi, rich black solids, and amazing halftones provide consistent print quality. The Monochrome production presses top the Sharp lineup with speeds of 125 and 136 pages per minute, respectively.
Monochrome toner-based presses are productive solutions for applications with no need for color.
