The Label Academy, the label and package printing industry’s global training and certification program, has added a new self-study training module to its curriculum. Covering a growing number of business and technical topics, the new ‘Label design and origination’ module takes the Academy’s module total to four.
The new module will examine the developments that have taken place in the prepress arena and explore in detail the progress of a typical label job from a rough design through to its arrival on the printing press. This includes design and origination, preparation for printing, proofing artwork, prepress output and supply chain issues. The module is also supported by the addition of a new handbook entitled ‘Label Design and Origination: Repro and prepress processes’.
Launched in September 2014, the Label Academy offers a series of self-study modules that combine free access to a detailed synopsis, relevant articles and paid textbooks that are available in printed and Kindle formats from Amazon.com. Current topics also include: conventional label printing processes, digital label and package printing and environmental performance and sustainable labeling. At the end of each module, students can take an online examination and earn a certificate.
Mike Fairley, founder of the Label Academy said: “The Label Academy has been extremely well received by the label community since being launched late last year. Investing in training and up skilling our work force is genuinely important and we are thoroughly committed to adding further topics over the coming months. This additional module will give students a good and full insight into just how complex the design to print process really is and underline the need for and importance of good and clear communications between the designer, printer and brand owner in order to deliver a successful result.”
Students can register and access course synopsizes alongside related articles and videos free of charge at http://www.label-academy.com, while the online examinations cost $250.
