Members of the thINK Forum reunited at the familiar Boca Raton resort in Boca Raton, FL from July 18 to 20, 2022 for thINK Ahead 2022. The past two years have been difficult for in-person gatherings, and while the pandemic is still looming, it’s not stopping innovation. While the 2021 event went on in two smaller waves and a virtual component, the ability to bring everyone together this year in one big, in-person group presented optimism for the future of print, specifically inkjet.
“The best part of the event was the opportunity to meet and network with so many interesting, forward-thinking people,” shares attendee and partner, Gene French, national sales manager, ContiWeb. “Our industry is vibrant, progressive, and growing, and we have every reason to be confident for a prosperous future.”
“The event’s energy is positive and upbeat with purposeful execution that keeps you energized,” comments Jonathan Malone-McGrew, edp, CMP, G7 Pro, senior director, engagement, Solimar Systems. “From the sessions to the vendor showcase to the networking and downright fun evening events, the attendees, partners, and Canon Solutions America staff are always up for a conversation. It is an event I enjoy personally and professionally,” he adds.
Knowledge and Networking
Entertainer and illusionist, David Kwong kicked off the event with an engaging keynote presentation featuring word play and mind teasers, followed by a cocktail and dinner reception.
The second day of the event wasted no time getting into education. Sessions focused heavily on supply chain issues and staffing, which are top-of-mind challenges for all business owners, including print providers. Other topics included book manufacturing, postal reform, direct mail, transactional printing, cybersecurity, and sales strategies.
During arrival and departures, interested attendees were shuttled to the Canon Americas Customer Innovation Center for tours and demonstrations.
While there was a lot of optimism, it wasn’t lost on the hosts that the event is happening at a time of turmoil in Europe as the war in Ukraine continues. To raise money for the children of Ukraine, through Unicef, the organization offered a variety of apparel to encourage donations. At the close of the event, thINK raised more than $15,000 for the cause.
