10.3.18
Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, today announced a new suite of enhancements to its PRISMAprepare software. The new version 7 of PRISMAprepare software is a powerful all-in-one make-ready solution that is designed to accelerate document preparation from composition through production, to help print providers reduce their turnaround times and operational costs through reduction of make-ready steps.
PRISMAprepare version 7 is Canon’s next generation of make-ready tools, building on the success of PRISMAprepare version 6.3. This new version provides features and functionality that are designed to help increase productivity, reduce turnaround times and enhance personalized services. These include a new production workspace, new product configurations and smart and editable automated workflows.
The rise of digital printing has created a demand for highly automated and cost-efficient workflows, yet many commercial printers and in-plants are still manually preparing print files because they think workflow automation software will be too expensive or difficult to implement. With this in mind, PRISMAprepare version 7 was created in a more modular fashion, providing businesses a digital printing make-ready solution that allows them to configure the application based on their own unique requirements, using and purchasing only the capabilities they need.
“Canon understands our customers’ need for flexible solutions that can be customized to fit their current business demands.” said Shinichi Yoshida, executive vice president and general manager, Business Imaging Solutions Group, Canon U.S.A. “Whether large or small, we are dedicated to bring solutions to market that help our customers stay competitive in today’s high-demand print environments. Today’s launch of the PRISMAprepare version 7 is an example of that promise.”
The new features included with PRISMAprepare version 7 include:
Production Workspace
This feature provides operators with sheet-level preview and printing capabilities in addition to the document-level preview, allowing users to soft proof their documents prior to printing, helping to limit waste and re-runs.
Smart and Editable Automated Job Processing
PRISMAprepare automation capabilities allow users several approaches to help them streamline and automate the make-ready preparation of digital print jobs. PRISMAprepare version 7 provides a new level of flexibility for users to easily edit automation templates and hot folders, allowing them to quickly customize for different print application requirements. Operators can decide if they want to automate the file-preparation to print process, thus eliminating the need to manually send print-ready files directly to the digital press queue.
Media Print Mode (MPM) for VarioPrint i-Series
PRISMAprepare version 7 is positioned to support the evolution of the VarioPrint i-Series with the Media Print Mode (MPM). MPM puts the customer in the driver’s seat enabling them the capability to determine their necessary level of quality and productivity. A single media type can have one or several MPMs, which allows for different print qualities per each printed sheet, giving customer’s a more transparent and flexible way of working.
New Product and Pricing Structure
The new modular structure allows users to customize their configuration for their requirements. This new product structure significantly reduces the entry cost so even small-print operations can take advantage of PRISMAprepare’s core document make-ready capabilities.
PRISMAprepare is part of the PRISMA suite of products, Canon’s integrated collection of workflow essentials for production print environments. Designed to drive optimal efficiency from job submission to completion, the PRISMA suite encompasses a complete production printing workflow portfolio providing, tools for web-to-print, order management, document make-ready, production print servers, production management and automation.
