The print industry convenes once again for Drupa, taking place May 28 to June 7, 2024 in Düsseldorf, Germany. The printing technologies trade fair is focused on inspiration, innovations, high-caliber knowledge transfer, and intensive networking.
Hosted by Messe Düsseldorf, the convention is where international decision-makers meet to discuss the latest technology trends and ground-breaking developments in the print industry.
AB Graphic International (ABG), hall 16, stand D10, marks its 70th anniversary with a drupa debut. ABG showcases the SRI3 label finishing system and seaming rewinder (SR) from ABG’s shrink sleeve range. ABG is also present in the HP stand, where it displays three additional machines, a non-stop winding (NSW) technology for the HP Indigo V12 Digital Press, which will be running inline; the Digicon Series 3 equipped with Fast Track, specifically designed to complement the finishing needs for the HP Indigo V12 Digital Press; as well as the DigiLase with DigiJet to highlight laser die cutting and digital embellishment.
ACTEGA, hall 3, stand B31, presents a range of product and technology solutions developed for printers and converters seeking more sustainable solutions and high-value embellishment options. ACTEGA representatives are located on numerous partner company stands and in the Touchpoint Packaging Forum showcasing the benefits of its latest barrier coatings, high-quality finishing solutions, coatings for digital printing, and its pioneering mindful metallization technology, ECOLEAF.
Alwan, hall 7A, stand E10, co-exhibits with ColorConsulting where attendees learn about Alwan ColorHub—a PDF color server that allows for printing accurate colors while using less ink and reducing color maintenance time. Alwan ColorCloud is a new cloud platform designed to make color management and process control available and affordable to all. It offers users free, as well as reasonably priced, subscription plans allowing them to calibrate, profile, predict, and assess the conformance of their proofs and prints. Also demonstrated is Hydra Profiling/HydraFix, Alwan’s patented spectral prediction technology. Hydra Profiling allows for the quick creation of three to seven color ICC output profiles by measuring a small number of printed patches. In combination with Alwan ColorHub, HydraFix automatically updates the calibration and the ICC output profile of a digital printer ensuring accurate and stable output despite printer, substrate, and ambient variations.
Antigro’s, hall 7a, stand C21 front-end software solutions enable its clients’ customers to design personalised products and custom die-cut stickers. At drupa, Antigro will be the driving force behind drupa’s first community art project, #WeAreDrupa, which will be created over the course of the show’s eleven days in Hall 7. Attendees, exhibitors, and journalists are invited to scan a QR code, take a selfie, and create a cut-out sticker of their face using Antigro’s newest product, Sticker Builder, a software for custom die-cut stickers. Once the image is uploaded, a Roland DG VersaSTUDIO BN2-20 will print the stickers for participants to collect and place their face alongside those of their fellow drupa visitors on the #WeAreDrupa banner wall, before sharing the experience on social media. Visitors can also benefit from the Antigro Designer ‘Try & Buy’ initiative, sampling Antigro customisation software to design a custom shape pillow.
Arrow Systems, Inc., hall 5, stand A36 – B35, showcases the latest digital printing and finishing equipment with its European partner, Katun. The ArrowJet Hybrid Pro M Series makes its debut along with the EZCut 350R digital knife finisher. In addition, the latest version of the ArrowJet Aqua 330R is on the floor along with the latest EZCut 330R+.
Atomyx, booth F06, hall 7, showcases its cloud-based print production management platform that connects print service providers and their technology stacks with print buyers and online print platforms. The team will showcase how Atomyx can keep print businesses profitable amid the shift from mass production to mass customisation. Atomyx Manage offers seamless integration, order visualisation, automation, and manual intervention capabilities, while Atomyx Prepare takes artwork preparation into the cloud and Atomyx Layout optimises media usage.
Baumer hhs, hall 6, stand 6A30, highlights its innovation capabilities including the Side Seam Gluing Solution, which is based on high-performance application heads used for bottom gluing in the production of straight-line boxes.
BERHALTER, hall 1, stand D51, spotlights the Swiss Die-Cutter B4 and B6 models featuring cutting-edge precision and efficiency. A highlight of the showcase is the BEAMstack Automated Packaging Systems and Robotics, demonstrating the company’s commitment to innovation in die-cutting solutions. This event serves as a platform to showcase its dedication to advancing technology in the printing and packaging industry.

Under the theme ‘The Power to Move,’ Canon, hall 8A, stand B41-1 – B41-8, demonstrates how its combination of technology innovations, expert teams, support services, and dynamic collaboration empowers print service providers to transform their businesses. The full portfolio of Canon production print technologies are showcased, including sheetfed inkjet and toner presses; high-speed, web-fed inkjet production lines; and flatbed and roll-to-roll wide format printers. In addition, Canon demonstrates its commitment to become a significant, trusted partner to the label and packaging markets, demonstrating live production of various label, corrugated, and folding carton applications.

EMT International, hall 6, stand A42, demonstrates its modular Chameleon finishing line, which includes unwinding, DP22 PRO dynamic perf and punch continuous feed processor line that supports digital printing applications and press materials with high-speed performance and enhanced flexibility with up to 10 processes in the same machine, and an RFX cut-stack solution. Through HP’s Heroes, the partners will transform attendees of this years drupa exhibition into superheroes, during a ground-breaking demonstration, that combines the latest AI filter technology, with an entirely automated workflow. KARLVILLE SWISS, hall 17, stand A01-2, is a guest at the HP booth showing the latest technology and innovation, demonstrating firsthand the possibility of making digitally printed pouches, from printing to pouch in a very short time and with very little waste. It is proud to show the PACK READY COMBI lamination machine—thermal and solvent less, the COMPACT slitter with integrated JetFX embellishment, and a new pouch machine KS-SUP-400-H.
Kavalan, hall 4, stand C29, says an interest in sustainable materials is increasing rapidly as both print businesses and their customers look for ways to reduce their environmental footprints. One such Kavalan user in the UK has succeeded in achieving a 67 percent reduction in its environmental impacts since going PVC-free with Kavalan three years ago. Kongsberg Precision Cutting Systems, hall 8A, stand B43, debuts the Kongsberg Ultimate and provides a sneak preview of the new addition to its automation line, a new seven-axis robot cell that allows customers to increase throughput utilizing multiple pallets and multiple cutting systems, a further step towards lights-out automation.
Kodak, hall 5, stand A02-1 – A02-2, showcases a range of products, including continuous inkjet technology and solutions for traditional print—all designed to help printers maximize profitability as the industry evolves. New KODAK products, systems, and technologies will be on display at Kodak’s booth in hall 5 as well as at the booths of industry partners. Standing at the forefront of technology innovation, Kodak demonstrates that it is the one-stop partner for the digital and traditional production needs of printers who want to successfully realize its vision for the future of their business.
Under the theme of Connected Automation, Komori, hall 14, stand D60, promotes automation that maximizes customer value and proposes solutions that are friendly to both people and the environment in order to make the future sustainable. Komori recently introduced the J-throne 29, a 29-inch sheetfed UV inkjet digital printing system, which is unveiled for the first time and sequentially released for general availability. The company also shows a range of technology with the theme of Connected Automation. Visitors see a seamlessly connected smart factory utilizing Autonomous Mobile Robots to link prepress and press as well as postpress that incorporates MBO folding machines and the MBO CoBo-Stack collaborative robot. Pay special attention to the linkage of equipment in the Postpress Alliance booth that embodies Komori’s open innovation concept.
KURZ, Hall 3, stand E71-1, presents its fastest 3D digital embellishment machine, the DM-MAXLINER 3D, along with the world premiere of the DM-MAXLINER 2D, a sheet-fed digital metallization system designed for high-quality metallization of a range of substrates, including uncoated paper. Additionally, KURZ is excited to showcase the compact and user-friendly DM-SMARTLINER for sheet-fed digital metallization and the global debut of MPRINT’s ultra-compact full-color 4C digital printing system.
Kyocera, hall 8A, stand C20, is poised to revolutionize the graphic arts sector with the European debut of the TASKalfa 55000c, which offers the ability to print vibrant colors on various media types, including offset coated substrates. Alongside this new device, it showcases the TASKalfa Pro 15000c high-speed, sheet-fed commercial printer.
Landa Digital Printing, hall 3, stand B31, highlights the recently launched, next-generation of its B1 digital print technology, the Landa S11 and S11P Nanographic Printing Presses. The new Landa models offer production versatility while reaching speeds of up to 11,200 sheets per hour. The increased speed drives superior economics for customers looking to increase productivity while reducing job turnaround times. Further, the new Landa presses offer a new PrintAI module, which opens the door to additional profit-generating opportunities for many businesses.
MAQUINAS MIRUNA LTDA, hall 12, booth E63, exhibits its up-to-date, single head model #3 stitching machine for printing finishing industries as well its great collection of spool capacity for galvanized and coppered wire. MIRUNA is a name well known around the world and proud of the thousands machines and products that are being supplied through representatives or direct shipments to satisfied customers in more than one hundred countries.

Müller Martini also demonstrates the economic and ecological benefits in the trade fair’s “Touchpoint Sustainability” exhibit in hall 14.

Scodix, hall 5, stand E11, launches two new presses, the Scodix Ultra 2500 SHD and the Scodix Ultra 6500 SHD. In addition to Scodix SHD (Smart High Definition) technology, the two new presses also serve as the debut of Scodix MLE (Multi-layer Enhancement) and Scodix AI, an automated embellishment creator tool.
Seiko Instruments’ printhead division, hall 5, stand C30, unveils its 600 dpi printhead—the ACROBAT RCE2560. The excitement surrounding the RCE2560 stems from its combination of 600 dpi resolution, true recirculation, isolated channel technology, and integrated next-generation waveform controllers. This amalgamation of cutting-edge features ensures printing performance and efficiency. With 2,560 strategically distributed nozzles across four rows over a printing width of 108.3 millimeters, the RCE2560 delivers exceptional printing performance within a compact footprint. The recirculation system facilitates a uniquely high flow rate directly behind the nozzles, resulting in superior print quality and consistency. One of the key highlight of the RCE2560 is its versatility, offering multiple gray levels with a drop volume range from 9 to 20 pl along with the possibility to accommodate various fluid types, including aqueous, solvent-, oil-, or UV-based inks.

DuoBlade FX is a sheet-fed digital finisher that changes creasing, full-cut, half-cut, pen drawing jobs automatically by detecting a quick response code. DuoBlade SF is a roll to piece digital finisher that can be used to make tickets, boxes, and back-scored stickers using vacuum pad and conveyer. Valloy also showcases professional RIP software for white color in BIZPRESS13R digital roll label press. Invisible fluorescent clear toner is also available for security printing.

Leveraging the proven technology of X-Rite’s InkFormulation software, this platform streamlines all aspects of formulation, storage, approval, retrieval, and quality control for offset, flexographic, gravure, and screen printing inks. With integrated BestMatch technology and the ability to better manage assortments, Autura Ink helps drive efficiency and reduce waste.
X-Rite also announces expanded capabilities for PantoneLIVE. This latest addition to the PantoneLIVE digital color library suite, Private Library Manager, targets packaging brands striving for meticulous color uniformity across their products and communications. With this new ability to add custom brand colors to the PantoneLIVE ecosystem, brands leverage pure spectral values throughout the production process to reproduce brand colors on a variety of substrates using various printing technologies and ink types.
