Graphco will celebrate 40 years of serving the printing industry with the formal opening of the WD Manley Technology Center on August 30-31, 2016. The event will feature a complete program of live equipment demonstrations, highlighted by presentations from industry experts, including Professor Emeritus Frank Romano. The first day’s events will be capped by a personalized tour of the universe at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History’s planetarium. Headlining this inaugural event will be RMGT’s Flagship 9 Series Six Color with Coater press featuring LED-UV curing, simultaneous plate changing, and SMART Insta.Color make-ready technology. A complete line-up of prepress and finishing equipment will also be featured in live demonstrations throughout the two day event.
“Our new technology center should appeal to all segments of today’s print industry. Our new demo center will present solutions to challenges faced by printers of all sizes. Our equipment demonstrations will present real world applications for today’s print needs. Hearing Frank Romano’s take on the future of print will be illuminating for all our guests,” states Chris Manley, President of Graphco.
The Horizon finishing offerings will include two of the hottest finishing products on the market, the revolutionary RD-4055 rotary die cutter and the Horizon SmartSlitter, which offers the highest level of productivity and customization on the market. A CRON ECRM CTP system will be supported by a Xitron digital workflow and Alwan’s ColorHub to provide plates for the RMGT 9, and a wide array of digital print and finishing options for small and mid size printers will also be featured during the two-day event.
In addition to a live presentation by Frank Romano, Rochester Institute of Technology’s latest print industry publication, The New Print Industry, will be produced live during the event. Emphasizing the versatility of Graphco provided equipment, book blocks will be printed on an MGI DP8700XL+, the cover will be produced on the RMGT 9, and the Horizon BQ270C and the HT-30C will complete the perfect binding of the publication. A special “lay flat” version will be produced using the Sterling DigiPunch and CoilMaster equipment as well.
“We are excited to bring this new resource to the printing industry as we celebrate our 40th anniversary. Naming the new center after my father, Bill, has put special emphasis on this endeavor since we began construction earlier this year. Beyond this grand opening we plan to host many other industry events and technology exhibitions on a regular basis,” concludes Manley. The open house will be held from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on August 30-31, 2016 at 6563 Cochran Road, Solon, OH.
