“UnSquaring the Wheel,” a new strategic management process created by three top print industry content experts will debut as a featured co-located event at GRAPH EXPO 15 and CPP EXPO, coming September 13-16, 2015 in Chicago’s McCormick Place.
The two part workshop-style event will kick-off the afternoon of Tuesday, September 15 and conclude the morning of Wednesday, September 16, presented in tandem by sales and marketing strategist Wayne Peterson of Black Canyon Consulting Group; Professor Chris Bondy of RIT; and, Dr. Joe Webb, known for his insightful industry commentary and pioneering book, “Disrupting the Future.”
“With GRAPH EXPO 15 offering the year’s most comprehensive showing of the latest technologies and profit-building new applications, it’s the ideal venue in which to premiere this new program designed to provide new solutions and strategies from a business management standpoint,” says Ralph Nappi, President of the Graphic Arts Show Company (GASC).
“Beta test response to the “UnSquaring the Wheel” method and content was overwhelmingly enthusiastic and gratifying,” says Peterson whose presentation will concentrate on business development, the customer experience, and branding.
Professor Bondy’s segment of the workshop will delve into three other key topic areas: technology, processes, and services. “Print businesses are of many sizes and circumstances,” reports Bondy. “We strove to create a business process that could be implemented by small and large businesses, and all those in between. Our feedback was excellent.”
Dr. Webb’s focus areas in the event centers around and explores people/management, finance, and business alliances.
“In developing and refining this new approach, it was obvious how much it contrasted with common industry wisdom,” stated Dr. Webb. “The previous thinking, while appropriate for its time, made adapting to and profiting from opportunities in the digitally-driven communications market difficult. Encouraged-and inspired-by today’s exceptional companies that significantly outperform their peers, we’ve captured their progressive attitudes and new methods for the workshop and in our new book. Our new ‘UnSquaring’ approach will undoubtedly make participants think far differently about their businesses.”
The “UnSquaring the Wheel” process includes a new business evaluation tool that workshop attendees will be the first in the industry to use. Within two weeks after GRAPH EXPO 15, each of the attendees’ results will be confidentially discussed and reviewed with one of the workshop’s presenters. “This personalized consultation is the biggest value of the program,” says Peterson. “Companies will not only understand how well their functions are integrated,” advises Bondy, “but also how to prioritize their next strategic and operational steps.” Additionally, as part of their educational package, all workshop participants will receive the new book, “UnSquaring the Wheel,” published by RIT Press.
