The LegUpTools PDF to editable InDesign converter is a new low-cost way to convert PDF files to editable InDesign files. I’m confident many of your DPS readers will be InDesign users, so thought you, and your readers, might be interested to learn about this tool.
Graphic designers and printers sometimes receive PDF files from clients produced with apps such as Adobe Express, Canva, and PowerPoint. Manually extracting content and layout from these PDFs for reuse in InDesign is often fiddly and time-consuming. The LegUpTools converter automatically extracts the content and formatting of the objects in a PDF, generating corresponding InDesign objects, such as pages, paths (lines and shapes), images, and stories (blocks of text), wrapped up in a single InDesign file. With the goal of creating an InDesign file that matches the original PDF as closely as possible.
Other converters do exist: Markzware and Recosoft have sold PDF to editable InDesign converters for several years, but at a hefty price of $200 or more. The LegUpTools converter has instead a micropayments pay-as-you-use pricing model. Conversions are charged at $0.25 per page, making it significantly cheaper for those who need to convert PDF files occasionally.
Adobe is developing an Open PDF in InDesign feature, which is available with InDesign 19.5 beta – but it only supports PDFs that were originally created from InDesign documents.
The LegUpTools convertor is at leguptools.com. New accounts get two free page credits, and all paid conversions have a money back guarantee.
