At this year’s Drupa, the international trade fair in Germany from May 31 to June 10, KBA’s Digital and Web Solutions demonstrated how its RotaJET VL inkjet web press can produce a unique application–laminate flooring. Large crowds clustered around the digital press to see its high print quality and enormous performance on a variety of substrates. Not only could attendees see how the laminate flooring was printed but could walk across the actual flooring in the booth.
Using their smart phones, attendees could scan the writing on the laminate flooring printed on a KBA RotaJET 168 using the Layar app to see the digital press in action at leading decor printer Interprint GmbH in Arnsberg, Germany. During a series of live demonstrations several times a day, the high-volume inkjet web press exhibited its new inkjet head technology and an excellent print quality (up to 1,200dpi native). Inkjet printing technology is revolutionizing the floor and wall tile market providing nearly indistinguishable authenticity from the original.
The new RotaJET L with web widths of 77 to 138cm made its debut printing at the trade show for the first time. It can be configured as a 4/4 press for commercial and publications printing or as a 4/0 press for industrial functional printing. It appeals primarily to established digital print markets for books, mailings or publications, but it can also be implemented in other industrial markets as a 4/0 press. The consistent modular design permits 42 different configurations. Plus the press can be retrofitted at a later date in terms of web width, color and output. Its robust engineering, high level of automation for paper supply and maintenance, enormous productivity with web speeds of up to 300m/min and outstanding register delivered by the unique web lead over a central cylinder make the new KBA RotaJET generation a first-class product in high-volume digital printing.
