Labels play a critical role in product marketing. With so many choices, it is not unusual for consumers to make purchasing decisions based on how it is presented. Therefore, it is essential for brand owners to consider the tone they want their labels and branding to reflect, and ensure high-quality output that makes a statement.
Bay Tech Label Company, Inc. offers a variety of products, from custom labels for high-end brands to the familiar “I Voted” stickers for election days. Established in 1985, it operates two locations—a headquarters in St. Pete, FL, as well as remote sales office in Asheville, NC. The label and sticker printer employs a staff of 51.
The company uses a mixture of flexographic and digital label printing technologies and is able to offer clients both short- and long-run lengths on more than 250 different materials and substrates. Chad Samson, marketing director, Bay Tech Label Company, estimates that ten percent of its business is currently digitally produced. The shop offers industrial, pharmaceutical, electrical, nutraceutical, food, and beer and wine labels. It also offers graphic design services if needed.
Primed for Ordering
Bay Tech Label Company continually advances its service offerings and skill set by investing in state-of-the-art equipment and providing its team with continued education on new technologies and market trends. It currently utilizes flexographic equipment from Mark Andy and digital products from Xeikon.
The company is well adept at creating custom label offerings, including cosmetic and personal care labels, food and beverage labels, beer and wine labels, industrial and chemical labels, pharmaceutical and nutraceutical labels, and specialty labels and tags.
Digital printing capabilities enable the label provider to offer custom services in smaller runs, which would not typically be cost effective through traditional methods of print.
In addition to label printing, it offers custom sticker printing services. Its custom stickers are available in any size, color, and finishing in sheets or rolls.
Customers are also able to purchase popular products directly from the website’s online store. Ready to order labels include election stickers, “Made in USA” stickers, jewelry stickers, and Dymo labels.
Going Viral
A client of Bay Tech Label Company recently made headlines with beer labels for a good cause. The FL brewer, Motorworks Brewing, ran a promotional label run designed to generate interest adopting dogs that need homes.
The idea was to put the faces of dogs looking for homes on four packs of their beer, with the goal of finding homes for these pets. Once the beers were out on the market, the promotion went viral when a women saw the beer label and realized one of the pups was her missing dog. She was reunited, making headlines in both local and national news outlets.
While the labels generated a lot of buzz, Samson says it’s all in a day’s work. “This is what we’ve been doing for the past 35 years,” he states.
Bay Tech Label Company produced the job on its digital press. The photos of the dogs were taken by photographer Gary Sweetman.
The labels were produced over five days. It was a one-time job, but due to the response Samson says many other interesting label opportunities have come up.
“The whole idea has gone viral with Motorworks Brewery and Bay Tech Label Company, we are overwhelmed with the response,” admits Samson.
The label printer plans to do more promotions like this in the near future.
According to Motorworks Brewing, after seeing the interest generated from the labels, the company has decided to open sales for Adoptable Dog Label four-packs on its website with profits directly benefiting the cause.
Label Masters
Labels are an essential part of the marketing puzzle. Brand owners want to dazzle consumers with product marketing that properly reflects the tone they are going after. Label providers look to a range of capabilities to ensure they can provide the results of their customer. In the case of Motorworks Brewing, an idea with a cause really took off with the help of Bay Tech Label Company’s digital printing capabilities.
