With the upcoming launch of its new Chill AT all temperature hot-melt adhesive, Mactac® Performance Adhesives Group is offering its labeling customers the best of both worlds – superior initial tack and outstanding performance in all temperatures, while specially formulated for difficult cold temperature applications.
Available in early 2017, Mactac’s Chill AT products feature the company’s proprietary hot-melt rubber adhesive technology. The custom-engineered adhesive was designed specifically for any temperature label application, including challenging cold temperature applications.
“Most all temperature labels today are formulated with acrylic emulsion adhesive technology as opposed to hot-melt rubber adhesive technology. While acrylic emulsion adhesives are great and serve many purposes, for cold temperature applications, hot-melt adhesives are proven to deliver unmatched benefits, such as a much higher initial tack and superior bond to the intended substrate,” said Kathy Magyar, senior marketing manager, Mactac Performance Adhesives. “The new Chill AT adhesive is a true all temperature adhesive.”
While most pressure-sensitive adhesives take longer to bond in cold temperature conditions, Chill AT adheres extremely well between temperatures of 20 to 40 degrees Fahrenheit, in addition to room temperature.
Chill AT is ideal for food and beverage packaging applications as well as adherence to low surface energy substrates such as high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and low-density polyethylene (LDPE). It is intended for permanent label and labeling needs.
Chill AT will be available with a variety of facestocks. Initially, it will be stocked on Mactac’s Weigh Scale Direct Thermal paper, Platinum™ Xtra Semi-Gloss (55# basis weight), bright silver metalized paper, and Vivid™ 2.6-mil white polypropylene (BOPP) film.
