Pack Expo International takes place November 3 to 6, 2024 in Chicago, IL. The event is expected to bringing together 45,000 attendees and 2,600 exhibiting companies with packaging and processing solutions for 40-plus vertical markets.
The event is produced by the Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies (PMMI), an organization that represents more than 1,000 manufacturers and suppliers of equipment, components, and materials as well as providers of related equipment and services to the packaging and processing industry.
Highlights from the Floor
Arrow Systems, Inc., booth W-20070, showcases a range of digital label printing and single-pass, direct-to-box printing solutions. It shows digital solutions for various packaging needs—labels, flexible packaging, end of line full-color printing, shrink sleeve, blister foil, and more.
Baumfolder Solutions, booth N-4870, exhibits its new automated document solution.This gatherer, folder, and insertion solution can save time and money compared to folding and inserting by hand. Your own print engine can be used with an approved side exit. Over the box insertion option can take the documents from the gatherer, folder, and insert directly into the box or bag. The system can be set to fold the same number of pages each time or variable pages. Barcode readers can detect the precise number of pages to be gathered and folded. Barcode readers can be added for variable sheet counts.
Berhalter Swiss Die-Cutting, booth N-5680, highlights its Swiss Die-Cutter B6, a high-performance flatbed die-cutting machine. HP, booth W-14105, presents a range of technology. HP’s Personalization and 3D Printing division showcases solutions designed to enhance sustainability and flexibility in packaging. Highlights include 3D printed tooling to produce molded fiber applications, complex end-of-arm tooling for adaptable packaging lines, elastomer materials for soft tooling and grips, and protective housings for robotic arms to safeguard employees and machinery. HP’s Specialty Printing & Technology Solutions team is also at the booth, offering an exclusive first look and demonstration of the HP 108mm Process Color Printheads, set to launch next year.
Karlville Swiss, part of the brand group Repakt, booth 4137, showcases its new KS-SUP-400-H compact pouch machine, handling standard, mono-material, and paper-based structures with conventional and digital printing capabilities.
Michelman, booth S-435, introduces its extensive line of water-based barrier and functional coatings for flexible and rigid packaging applications. These aqueous coatings allow converters and brands to transition to fiber-based or mono-material filmpackaging structures while maintaining performance requirements. Michelman coatings used in these applications are PFAS-free, food contact compliant, and include solutions that provide oxygen, moisture, and mineral oil barriers; oil and grease resistance; scratch resistance; print receptivity; and heat seal.
