At Labelexpo Europe 2017 Sun Chemical is introducing its range of water-based, UV-based over print varnishes (OPVs) and solvent based varnishes for the production of labels, flexible packaging and folding cartons on HP Indigo digital presses.
Following the collaboration agreement signed with HP Indigo at interpack
2017 [1] to develop cost-effective digital coatings, Sun Chemical has advanced the relationship by introducing a comprehensive range of both water-based, UV based OPVs and solvent based varnishes to be used with HP Indigo ElectroInk and compatible with a wide range of media.
The SunEvo(tm) Protect LEP range of digital coatings has been tested either by Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) or validated by HP’s L&P Media and Materials team in accordance with the HP Indigo Over Print Varnish Performance Programme.
RIT’s HP Indigo Over Print Varnish Performance Programme is a third party validation process which analyses certain criteria of the OPVs including protective qualities, mechanical wear and heat and UV light resistance. The RIT authentication certifies the coatings to work with HP certified media, providing printers and converters with peace of mind when using the coatings in conjunction with HP Indigo media and ElectroInk
The SunEvo Protect LEP range of digital coatings is suitable for labels, flexible packaging and folding cartons. The OPVs protect HP Indigo ElectroInk to fulfil packaging applications, while enhancing the customer experience through the quality of the finish. The series includes Sun Chemical’s latest generation of migration compliant UV varnish technology suitable for indirect food packaging and meet regulatory requirements such as the Swiss Ordinance for food contact packaging.
The OPV range also includes high performance water-based protective coatings developed to enhance the resistance of outdoor print as well as a range suitable for embellishment, including stampable and soft touch.
With this collaboration Sun Chemical can bring its wealth of expertise to enhance the value proposition of HP Indigo jobs.
“We are extremely pleased to collaborate and engage closely with Sun Chemical. Their range of expertise and product offering in different areas of application performance will undoubtedly contribute to improving HP Indigo customer demands and expectations” said Nurit Raccah, Label & Packaging Media and Materials Business Manager, Supplies & Media, HP Indigo Division.
Sun Chemical will launch the SunEvo Protect LEP range for HP Indigo at Labelexpo Europe, which will be available through Sun Chemical’s global sales network.
