The 2023 PRINTING United trade show took place from October 19 to 21, 2022 in Las Vegas, NV. The event focuses on convergence—bringing everything in the printing industry under one roof. With a little something for everyone, the conference delivered on that promise.
PRINTING United Expo is presented by PRINTING United Alliance—an association created with the combined strength of Printing Industries of America, Specialty Graphic Imaging Association, NAPCO Media, and Idealliance.
In the production printing space, Canon brought its theme, “Business Forward.” Visitors to the Canon booth got a first-hand look at newly launched solutions including the imagePRESS V1000 digital press. The company also featured the expanded imagePROGRAF large format printer family, the Arizona flatbed series, the Colorado series with FLXfinish+ technology, as well as its PRISMA workflow solutions.
Heidelberg USA featured an end-to-end modular Smart Print Shop, showcasing digital transformation across the entire manufacturing supply chain and highlighted several initiatives the company is currently taking towards workforce development.
The company also featured the Versafire EP digital press, POLAR N 137 PLUS cutter, and Stahlfolder 66 SSP.
HP took over a hall to demonstrate its latest innovations, including the upgraded HP Indigo 100K Digital Press. In addition, HP showcased the HP Indigo 15K Digital Press and HP Indigo 6K Digital Presses. The company also demonstrated the new HP PageWide Advantage 2200 press.
Komori America, along with MBO America, highlighted the synergies between the two companies and their singular focus on advancing print solutions by delivering high-performance offset and digital printing and finishing technology.
Finishing manufacturers did not disappoint. Duplo featured a range of solutions, including the DDC-810 Raised Spot UV Coater, DFL-500 Dry Coat/Foil/Laminator, DC-648 Slitter/Cutter/Creaser, DPC-600 Digital Die Cutter, UD-310 Rotary Die Cutter, 600i Booklet System, and 350i Digital Booklet System.
Muller Martini highlighted its Connex workflow system.
In a 4,000 square foot exhibit space, Standard Finishing Systems highlighted the increasing role that advanced automation plays in driving production efficiency, such as the automatic preparation of book blocks for case binding on the Horizon BQ-500 Perfect Binder with the GF-500 Gauze Feeder and ESF-1000 End Sheet Feeder.
Also displayed was continuous, high-speed booklet production on the Hunkeler Generation 8 combination Roll-to-Stack/Roll-to-Booklet solution, featuring the Gen8 Roll to Cut/Stack solution inline with the new Horizon iCE StitchLiner Mark V Saddlestitcher.
Quadient offered live one-on-one demonstrations of products like the DS-1200 G4iIntelligent Inserting System, a high-volume folder inserter that delivers maximum performance with the smallest footprint of any production-level solution.
Videk showcased its Print Verification System, featuring Digital Eyes that offer intelligent, automated inspection throughout the manufacturing process.
Scodix featured the next generation of its Ultra Digital Enhancement Press series, the Scodix Ultra 6000 powered by Smart High Definition technology. This system builds upon the success of the Scodix Ultra 6000 and is directly targeted at the packaging sector and high-definition printers, offering a new embellishment application as well as economic and sustainability benefits.
Workflow is increasingly relevant as document owners and print providers work with reduced labor, tighter turnaround times, and lower margins.
Crawford Technologies introduced cSimpl, a software as a service based document reengineering service designed for print manufacturers and their resellers.
EFI presented EFI Fiery Prep-it, a software solution for the preparation, layout, and automated production of print-for-cut software that can generate significant media savings for users.
Enfocus exhibited its range of solutions including PitStop Pro and Switch.
Hybrid Software demonstrated its products along with Hybrid Software Group’s sister companies’ technologies—Global Graphics Software, iC3D, ColorLogic, Xitron, and Meteor Inkjet. Attendees were treated to a broad spectrum of packaging, digital, and commercial print applications.
Solimar Systems showcased innovations in workflow software from its Chemistry platform through various hardware partners including HP, RISO, and Screen.
