Xeikon, an innovator in digital color printing technology, announced today that it is a sponsor of Smithers Pira’s Digital Print for Packaging U.S. Conference, a leading event that brings brand owners, converters and solution providers together to explore the potential of digitally printed packaging. Smithers Pira is one of the world’s leading authorities on the packaging, paper and print industry supply chains.
Xeikon will have a vendor tabletop exhibit at the conference, which is taking place June 1-2 at the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay hotel in Tampa, FL. Company representatives will be available at the event to discuss Xeikon’s innovative technology and solutions with the attendees.
Steve Kirchof, vice president of sales/operations manager for Labels in Motion, an Orlando, FL-based label printing company which owns a Xeikon 3500 digital press, is one of the featured speakers at the event. Kirchof’s session is titled, “The Xymogen journey: Understanding a pharmaceutical brand owner’s move to digital print for self-sufficiency and growth.” Labels in Motion is a subsidiary of XYMOGEN®, an independent health sciences company.
The Xeikon 3000 Series represents the broadest range of label and packaging presses available on the market today. All the presses are based on full-rotary printing technology, with variable repeat length, and have an imaging resolution of true 1200×3600 dpi. Press speeds are not affected by label size and/or the number of colors used. The presses come in two different web widths (20.3 and 13 inches) and three different speeds. In addition, entry-level models can be upgraded to higher capacity options in the field.
At Labelexpo 2014, Xeikon also announced the launch of Xeikon Cheetah, the fastest digital color press in its portfolio. The Xeikon Cheetah has a top speed of 98 feet/min, irrespective of the number of colors being printed, and is dedicated solely to the production of pressure sensitive labels. It also enables printing on a variety of heat-sensitive substrates due to incorporation of Xeikon’s ICE toner technology which requires a much lower fusing temperature than typical toner-based presses.
“This year’s Digital Print for Packaging Conference has an incredible lineup of speakers and educational content. The event will help brand owners and converters learn about the latest developments and best practices in digital packaging,” said Andy Dwivedi, director of marketing and sales support for Xeikon America, Inc. “Furthermore, we are excited about Labels in Motion’s presentation at the event. They have a great story on how they brought digital print capabilities in-house to be more profitable and provide unique services to their clients. We are pleased to be a part of their continued success.”
